Day 1: Arrive at Kotoka International Airport. Meet your Sankofa guides and check-in at the hotel.
Welcome dinner and orientation featuring local delicacies, such as Jollof rice and Kelewele. Orientation session on the spiritual significance of the Sankofa bird.
Day 2: The Heartbeat of the City (Accra)
Theme: Identity & Artistry
Morning: Explore Black Star Square, a symbol of independence, followed by a visit to the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan-African Culture.
Afternoon: A guided walk through Jamestown, Accra’s oldest district. Witness the vibrant street art and the historical lighthouse.
Evening: Visit the Arts Centre for a hands-on drum and dance workshop. Feel the rhythm of your ancestors in your own hands.
Day 3: The Kingdom of Gold (Kumasi)
Theme: Royalty & Heritage.
Morning: Travel to Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Empire. Afternoon: Visit the Manhyia Palace Museum to learn about the Asantehene (King) and the powerful matrilineal culture of the Akan people.
Evening: Explore the Kejetia Market, the largest open-air market in West Africa—a sensory explosion of sights, sounds, and scents.
Day 4: The Craft of Our Hands (Bonwire & Ntonso)
Theme: Symbolism & Expression.
Morning: Visit Bonwire, the home of Kente cloth. Learn to weave the intricate patterns, each telling a specific story or proverb.
Afternoon: Head to Ntonso Adinkra Village. Learn the ancient art of Adinkra stamping. Carve your own Sankofa symbol and dye your own fabric using natural bark ink.
Evening: A Farewell Feast in Kumasi with traditional storytelling and "Highlife" music.
Day 5: The Path to the Ancestors (Assin Manso & Cape Coast) Theme: Reflection & Remembrance.
Morning: Depart for Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park. This is where captured Africans had their "Last Bath" before being marched to the coast. Participate in a wreath-laying ceremony.
Afternoon: Arrive in Cape Coast. Check into a beachfront eco-resort.
Evening: A quiet sunset meditation on the beach to prepare for the emotional journey of the following day.
Day 6: Through the Door of No Return (Cape Coast & Elmina)
Theme: Resilience
Morning: A solemn tour of Cape Coast Castle. Walk through the dungeons and stand before the "Door of No Return."
Afternoon: Cross the bridge to Elmina Castle, the oldest European building in Sub-Saharan Africa. Contrast the architectural beauty with the dark history within.
Evening: "The Return" Ceremony. A symbolic walk back through the "Door of Return," followed by a naming ceremony where you receive your traditional Akan soul name based on your day of birth.
Day 7: The Journey Forward (Accra)
Theme: The Bridge to the Future.
Morning: Scenic drive back to Accra.
Afternoon: Final stop at Makola Market for last-minute artifacts and fabrics. A "Future-Mapping" session where participants share how they will carry their Sankofa experience back to their home communities.
Evening: Transfer to the airport for your flight home, no longer as a visitor, but as a returning son or daughter.
